Furlan Marri
Andrea Furlan — a Swiss industrial designer trained at ECAL with stints at Chopard, Hublot, and alongside high-complication specialist Dominique Renaud — and Hamad Al Marri — a Riyadh-based collector and auction devotee who fell in love with watches when his father handed him an Omega Seamaster at fourteen — conceptualised Furlan Marri entirely during COVID lockdowns. The first watch launched via Kickstarter in March 2021 and funded in thirty-five seconds. The same year, it won the Horological Revelation Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.
What We Achieved
In 2023, Furlan Marri entered Only Watch — the biennial Monaco charity auction for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research — with a secular perpetual calendar developed in collaboration with Dominique Renaud and independent French watchmaker Julien Tixier. A brand two years old building a secular perpetual calendar. That sentence should not exist. It does.

Origin
Two people in different countries — Furlan in Geneva, Al Marri in Riyadh — in a global lockdown, with daily calls and a shared obsession. The brand’s name is simply their surnames joined. Its philosophy is equally direct: the most beautiful watches in history should be available to the people who love them, not only to the people who inherited wealth before they did.
Design Philosophy
Bicompax sector dials. Teardrop lugs. 38mm cases sized to the proportions of the era being referenced. The first watches used Seiko mechaquartz VK64 movements — a hybrid of mechanical and quartz that produces analogue chronograph sweep without the cost of a Swiss mechanical. Later collections introduced Swiss automatic movements from La Joux-Perret and Peseux SA. Furlan is transparent about every supplier. That transparency is itself a design decision.
The Collection
Three permanent families — the Chronograph (the debut), a three-hand sector dial automatic, and the Flyback Chronograph (developed with watchmaker Auro Montanari). Special editions include the Dubai Watch Week Havana Green and the Only Watch secular perpetual calendar — a complication that accounts for the full 400-year Gregorian cycle and requires no correction until at least 2400. The range from entry to extraordinary is steep, and deliberate.
