Areson
Almost every world-time watch ever made surrounds its dial with the same ring of city names — a convention inherited from Cottier and repeated, largely unexamined, for eighty years. Areson’s argument is that the ring is doing the wrong job. People do not remember Tokyo as UTC+9. They remember it as sushi. The Origin Series, the debut collection from a Hong Kong independent founded by a collector named Anson, replaces the city ring with twenty-four cultural symbols and then backs that conceptual gamble with three dials made of genuine lapis lazuli, hand-laid mother-of-pearl, and metal hammered by hand over several days. It is an unusual combination: a storytelling idea and a materials programme, arriving together, from a brand nobody had heard of two years ago.

Origin
A collector who couldn’t find his watch.
Areson began because Anson couldn’t find a watch that satisfied him both physically and emotionally. He wanted something with the right proportions, materials and presence on the wrist, but also something that felt personal—an object that could reflect the character, values and experiences of its wearer.
When he couldn’t find that watch, he decided to build it himself, selling part of his collection to fund the first prototypes.
The name Areson sounds close to “a reason”. It represents a reason to begin, to build something meaningful and to keep moving when the path becomes difficult.
Design Philosophy
Culture where the cities used to be.
People rarely remember a place by its UTC offset. They remember its food, architecture, rituals, people and the experiences they had there. The Cultura GMT translates that more human way of remembering the world onto the watch.
The Collection
Three dials, three origins.
The Horizon uses lapis lazuli with natural pyrite inclusions, turned into a deliberate star map that glows under Super-LumiNova after dark. The Mosaic is hand-assembled from fragmented violet mother-of-pearl, shifting between violet, indigo and silver as the wrist moves — no two dials alike. The Forge, the Atelier Edition, is hammered strike by strike by Master Cheng, recognised by Europa Star as China’s first guilloché master, over several days per dial.
