Kent Hall& Co.

Kent Hall & Co. was founded in 2015 by a group of friends who met at NUS Kent Ridge Hall — the name an honest acknowledgement of where it all began. The brand ceased operations in October 2019 due to family commitments, then returned with a Revival series and a renewed mandate. No reinvention was necessary. The original philosophy was intact: “We sell watches that we would wear ourselves.” That commitment, stated plainly and kept consistently, is the entire brand.

What We Achieved

Kent Hall & Co. has been featured by Channel News Asia and Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, and produced an SG60 olive green dial commemorating Singapore’s Garden City identity. The brand remains small-batch, personally QC’d, and genuinely affordable — without ever treating any of those qualities as compromises.

Origin

The founders met in Kent Ridge Hall at NUS. That shared history — the specific Singapore experience of hall life, late nights, and friendships built under the same roof — is the honest foundation of the brand. Every watch is made for that same ordinary, genuine context: something you’d actually reach for every morning.

Design Philosophy

Small-batch production allows for personal quality control at every stage. Sapphire crystals, 316L stainless steel, reliable automatic movements — specifications that earn their price honestly. The Revival series uses a skeletonised Seagull TY2809 movement in an octagonal-bezelled case that wears its architectural lineage without apology.

The Collection

The Marina Collection draws from Singapore’s most iconic waterfront — The City, The Sea, The Sky, The Garden — each expressed as a clean, contemporary dial. The Revival series offers skeleton horology at an entry price that introduces newcomers to the pleasure of watching a movement run. Both collections prioritise the wearer over the collector.

Kent Hall & Co. is a reminder that the best watch brands are not always the most ambitious ones. Sometimes the most important thing is making something good, keeping it accessible, and meaning what you say. They have done all three, consistently, across a decade and a revival. — Editorial, Maison Indépendante
